Go somewhere, take out the enemies, return. Whilst the combat is excellent, the types of missions – both in the main campaign and in the side missions – often see the same repetitive ideas. Enemies are relentless – never spending much time firing at you from range, preferring to run at you head on trading kamikaze tactics for caution. There’re some memorable characters, such as the bizarre and creepy Doctor Kvasir, but on the whole they’re only there to act as conduits for the exceptional combat. It’s a generic tale of revenge, and one that doesn’t last that long at all not that its a bad thing, mind you. Much of the story is as generic as it comes, and the vocal talent is over-the-top, b-movie calibre that makes you wince as you listen to some of the wasteland’s more eccentric characters. You start the game choosing between one of two characters – a male or female – and from there, you become a Ranger hellbent on gaining revenge on The Authority and its leader, General Cross. Unfortunately, the things I was looking forward to haven’t been executed as well as I’d liked, and although the shooting is extraordinary, there’s a fair amount I wasn’t a fan of.

There seems to have been a lot of faith put into the dream coalition between id Software and Avalanche, and why not? Both have a healthy list of titles under their belts, and both are arguably leaders in their recognised genres. Rage 2 is out May 14 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.The marketing campaign for Rage 2 has been an arrogantly barbaric fusion of neon, explosions, blood, gore, promises, and Danny Dyer. It adds a new region, as well as new weapons, abilities and vehicles.įor the September - December period, you can expect more content and the second expansion hits in November. This expansion will add a new storyline featuring the Ghosts from Rage 1. The first expansion, Rise of the Ghosts, will be released in August. It also brings a new vehicle type and enemy along with community challenges, skins, and Cheats.

Both of these updates will be free to all players. One includes a pilotable Mech as a new vehicle, and the other adds a large new enemy. In June, the first large update arrives with additional community challenges, new Cheats, and two events. New weekly challenges will occur in May and June, and you can keep up with the schedule through the in-game Message of the Day.Īn in-game event, “Bring the Ruckus,” featuring Ruckus the Crusher is also part of the plan. Should the first community challenge succeed, everyone will earn the Vomit Comet Pistol skin. Everyone who takes part will earn free skins when working together to complete the challenge. Starting the week of May 14, you can expect the first of many community challenges. Upcoming content includes everything from community challenges, to new vehicles, new Cheats, two expansions, and additional enemies. The Mayhem doesn't stop when Rage 2 releases next week o n May 14.īethesda has released a roadmap for Rage 2 outlining post-release content starting at launch and into December.
